Precious's Story PDF Print E-mail

Precious’s story of ups and downs began many years ago when her human mom headed off to college and decided Precious, then known as Berlin, needed more attention than she could give. Soon we found a new mom to offer just that and Berlin was happy once again.

Unfortunately, new mom decided Berlin was “too affectionate” and brought her back. It wasn't long, though, before new-now-former mom called, saying how much she missed Berlin. So since a home is always our hope for each cat, we gave this home one more try. But Berlin over-loved herself back to our sanctuary again in short order.

Home 3 was with someone who seemed perfect for Berlin—a single woman who had the time to heap tons of affection on this beautiful calico girl. Yet eventually she, too, decided Berlin was too-something, so Berlin came to us again…for the fourth time.

Then one happy day in 2002, a dear older lady visited our sanctuary and fell for Berlin. And while there was a period of adjustment (probably because Berlin thought it wouldn't last), Mrs. H and the newly named "Precious" bonded nicely. Mrs. H sent regular updates:

Precious and I are happy as two bugs in a rug. She keeps me in line and makes sure she gets plenty of lap-sitting time. She is such good company and we’re great pals.

Precious spent six blissful years in Home 4 and came back to us in May 2008 when Mrs H passed away at the age of 86. She has adjusted fairly well, despite having always been an “only cat,” but has developed food allergies that cause her to itch and scratch and sometime lose her fur. And we know she must miss Mrs. H.

For such an easygoing kitty who mostly just needs a lap, Precious has had quite a rollercoaster ride. Won't you consider sponsoring her now that she is in her senior years?
