The stunningly handsome Bleu Boy has been with us since 2001, which makes him one of our longest-term residents. He is what we would term feral, literally "gone wild", which generally refers to cats who've had little contact with humans. Unfortunately, in Bleu's case, it might have been better if he'd had none at all.
You see, Bleu was rescued after being shot at by kids who were using him as target practice for fireworks. The abuse left him with a strong distrust of people... and who could blame him? But cats have more resilience than most folks give them credit for. Bleu's spirit has not suffered and his story is not one of tragedy, but of triumph.
A veritable fixture in the Starks Room at Heaven on Earth's sanctuary, Bleu still keeps his eyes glued to any person who approaches, even those who come bearing treats. Yet he will sometimes let long-time volunteers touch him and he has occasionally been spied rolling around on his back, showing the playful side he usually keeps safely hidden from human eyes. Perhaps most important (to him, at least), Bleu has a best friend--a feral tuxedo cat by the name of Marvin. The two are rarely apart. They share their own top shelf, snuggled together for hours at stretch, and groom each other exclusively.
Please sponsor Bleu Boy today and let him show you how a terrible past, though perhaps never entirely forgotten, can be overcome.
