It is estimated that 4 million dogs and cats are killed in U.S. shelters every year. Pet overpopulation is nothing less than a tragedy. These are the ways that you can be a apart of the solution.
Spay/neuter is the only humane method proven to reduce pet overpopulation. Please make sure all of your pets are spayed/neutered and be a community spay/neuter advocate. See our Spay/Neuter page for more information.
If you find a homeless pet, take responsibility for it. Many rescue groups offer assistance to individuals who need help with placement if they can foster the animal temporarily. Shelters and rescues are simply too inundated to help every animal in need. See our I Found A Cat page for information on our FUR Foster Program.
If you do find yourself in the unfortunate position of needing to re-home your own animal, be proactive. You are your pets best chance at finding a new home. See our Re-home Your Cat page for tips.
There are many other resources on the web to help you with your pet situation. We list a few on our Useful Online Resources page.
By taking responsibility for the pet overpopulation crisis as a community, we CAN bring an end to it. Please join our efforts in any way you can.
