Kittens are here and we have no where to put them!
Last night the new live-in caretakers caught a young cat in the backyard. I t is due to go in to be fixed tomorrow and will be able to go up for adoption very soon. I t is apx 6 months old; Russian Blue tuxedo. It is very cute and seems sweet, just a little scared at having been dumped.
When they came home tonight the caretakers came across a box dumped at the gate with three small kittens in it.
Anyway, we're stuck. We have to find someone to foster these kitties because we have no space for them. Even our isolation area is full.
Unfortunately we haven't figured out the magic spell to make more room out of what we have.
This is an ongoing issue. We had almost 10 cats dumped at the shelter in 2007, and so far this makes 5 in 2008. If you are interested in fostering, or if you know someone who is, now is the time!
Heaven on Earth will handle spay/neuters, vaccinations, testing for Felv/FIV, microchipping, treatment for parasites, etc. All you have to do is house the kitties at your home, love and nurture them, and when they are ready, bring them to adoption events (you don't even have to stay all day for the event).
Aside from space issues, for the health of all our sanctuary cats and the new kitties, we cannot house young kittens in the sanctuary. In addition, young kittens don't get proper socialization in a shelter environment. If you can't foster kittens, we have some great adults and young adults (1 yr old) who could be fostered which would help to make room for situations like these.
Fostering can be a highly rewarding way to help homeless animals. Please consider helping in this way today!
