Feral Cats and T-N-R
Feral cats are the offspring of lost or abandoned housecats that have reverted to a wild nature in order to survive. They can be found digging in dumpsters behind restaurants and in alleys, feeding off rodents in industrial/commercial areas, and residential areas where there is plenty of food sources.
Feral cats exist as a result of irresponsible cat owners who did not have their cats spayed or neutered. When these cats are allowed to roam freely, are lost, or are abandoned, they reproduce uncontrollably. Feral cats now account for up to 50% of the total cat population.
Heaven on Earth promotes T-N-R (Trap-Neuter/Spay-Return). This method involves humanely trapping a feral cat, transporting the cat to a veterinarian to be spayed or neutered, and then returning the cat to its food source. This method allows feral cats to live out the rest of their lives naturally, without increasing the number of cats into their respective areas.
Rescue and Adoption
While promoting and assisting with spay/neuter of domestic and feral cats we come across many homeless cats that need to be adopted. Heaven on Earth takes these animals into our care on the basis of space and resource availability.
All cats admitted are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, tested for FELV (Feline leukemia), and provided with medical care as needed. Many of the cats and kittens that we admit are very sick and require expensive and immediate medical attention. The average cost of rescuing and adopting out a cat is $300.
All of our cats are available for adoption to approved homes. Potential families are screened thoroughly to ensure a cat is going to a permanent, loving home that best matches the cat’s personality and needs. Volunteers and foster families give our cats lots of love and attention while they await a permanent home.
Establish the Heaven on Earth Animal Sanctuary
The Heaven on Earth Animal Sanctuary will be a no-kill facility for homeless animals and will provide permanent housing for many animals with lower chances of being adopted. They will be able to live out their lives in a safe, loving and healthy environment. HESA has acquired 25 beautiful acres in Los Angeles County to build this sanctuary and now is in the process of raising funds to make this dream a reality.
