10 Years of Saving Lives Event

Heaven on Earth Society for Animals celebrated its tenth anniversary on November 14, 2010, at Gallery 800 at the Historic Lankershim Arts Center in North Hollywood. Approximately 100 friends and supporters were on hand to enjoy vegetarian fare (including dessert from Famous Cupcakes), sample the selections provided by wine sponsor Barefoot Wine and Bubbly...and help begin the journey of the next ten lifesaving years.

A staff member for U.S. Representative Brad Sherman presented Heaven on Earth board president Ritchie Geisel with an American flag that was flown over the U.S. Capitol on September 11, 2010. A second special presentation was made by Geisel himself, on behalf of the Heaven on Earth board of directors -- to founder Eri Kriteman, honoring her many years in rescue. The plaque included photos of the five "founding cats,"the first resident's of Heaven on Earth's sanctuary: Abercrombie, Sarah, Joey, Ringo and Smokey.

A highlight of the evening was a silent auction featuring works of original art donated by several members of the Art Directors Guild, as well as a tempting array of tickets to events, gift baskets, professional services and more. The anniversary celebration was set against the backdrop of Gallery 800's current show, Art Unites: Share the Holidays With Us, which added to the evening's festive feel. Also contributing -- a new collection of Heaven on Earth greeting cards, with design donated by Amy Schwartz, Giraffe Design (Venice, CA), and printing courtesy of Eddie Wright, Print Rite Inc. (Houston, TX).
