Seth MacFarlane Pays Tribute To Mom by Donating to Local Animal Shelter

Los Angeles Jul 16, 2011 – Seth MacFarlane, creator of the hit animation series Family Guy, American Dad and the Cleveland Show, is paying tribute to his mother by teaming up with Heaven on Earth Society for Animals, a Los Angeles-based nonprofit. Ann Perry MacFarlane, mother of Seth and Rachael MacFarlane, died one year ago today. Perry, as she was known, was a lifelong animal lover and a tireless rescuer. Over the course of her life, she cared for all manner of wild and domestic animals, ones that no one else would help. On the year anniversary of Perry’s death, Seth MacFarlane and Heaven on Earth Society for Animals announce the establishment of Perry’s Place—The Perry MacFarlane Sanctuary at Heaven on Earth.

Dear Friend,

This was in an email we received in March about a feral (wild) cat named, appropriately, Oscar Wild. Oscar Wild’s caretaker was not a cat person when he initially came across him. However, he was quickly charmed by Oscar Wild’s charisma and started leaving food and water out for him. He then realized what great companions cats are and decided he would like to have a feline companion in his home. Since Oscar Wild was feral and not suited for an indoor-only life, his caretaker went to a local humane society and adopted not one, but two cats to call his own. Oscar Wild had saved the lives of two cats that otherwise might well have been killed for lack of space in that shelter!

Potential adopters are thoroughly screened and all known information about the animal is disclosed to ensure an ideal match. Heaven on Earth Society for Animals celebrated its tenth anniversary on November 14, 2010, at Gallery 800 at the Historic Lankershim Arts Center in North Hollywood. Approximately 100 friends and supporters were on hand to enjoy vegetarian fare (including dessert from Famous Cupcakes), sample the selections provided by wine sponsor Barefoot Wine and Bubbly...and help begin the journey of the next ten lifesaving years.
